As you know, from time to time we like to show you points of interest along the route so that you have a better experience while traveling it. If previously we had shown you points such as the Mercat de Tordera<\/a>, the Les Llobateres Wetland<\/a> or the Tordera River Mouth<\/a>, today we have prepared a short article about the Mol\u00ed d’en Puigverd, in Palafolls.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Mol\u00ed d’en Puigverd is a municipal facility of the Palafolls City Council, included in the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, which, among other uses, hosts the Mol\u00ed d’en Puigverd Private Foundation on weekdays, which ensures the labor and social insertion of people with mental health disorders.<\/p>\n

But beyond the building, right next to the Mol\u00ed d’en Puigverd, there is a whole floodable woodland area, a vestige of an old wetland, where, when the Mol\u00ed was rehabilitated, two artificial ponds, or pools, were created to recreate the old conditions of the area. In this forest, which is actually a floodable ash grove, you can find different species besides the narrow-leaf ash, such as elms, willows, or alders, among others. If you are a plant enthusiast, you will not miss herbaceous species, some quite obvious like the yellow iris, or others totally aquatic, like the water-pepper, duckweed, or water-starwort, among others.<\/p>\n

The two ponds that were created in the area, which communicate with each other, are supplied by rainwater and an irrigation ditch whose water comes from a newly constructed mine, which only provides water when the Tordera carries it superficially. Around one of the two ponds, there is a small itinerary with benches, and inside the ash grove, some wooden footbridges have been built to cross the existing ditches. So this place can be a perfect point to take a break during your route along the Tourdera, stop to rest, observe nature, etc.<\/p>\n
