After the closure of the shooting range located on the Tordera riverbed in Malgrat was ordered in 2010, due to the serious impact it had on the preservation of the area’s natural and ecological values, the Malgrat de Mar city council began the recovery and restoration of the entire space a few weeks ago, next to which the Tourdera route passes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Since November, the Malgrat de Mar City Council has started a restoration project for the river space on the banks of the Tordera where the Tourdera route runs. Specifically, the project involves the recovery and restoration of the degraded area of the bank, occupied by the old shooting range.<\/p>\n

This initiative has been in the works by the City Council since 2018, when it requested and received a subsidy from the Catalan Water Agency for riverbank recovery actions and improvement of the ecological status in wetlands with stewardship agreements. In this regard, the City Council has signed a river stewardship agreement with the owners of this space to carry out the restitution project.<\/p>\n

The project incorporates actions such as the demolition of fixed structures, removal of invasive species, etc., in order to adapt the sector and harmonize it in relation to the natural, ecological, and landscape values that recognize the Tordera riverbed as a natural space of the Natura 2000 Network. It is about naturalizing the space and at the same time promoting the recovery of the riverside habitat typical of the Tordera in this environment, while improving its function as an ecological connector.<\/p>\n

This action connects right with the area of the Pont d’en Pixota, where the final conditioning tasks of the surroundings of the new bridges over the Tordera, severely damaged by Storm Gloria, are currently being completed, about which we told you in the previous news<\/a>.<\/p>\n
