As reported last week, the route of the “Tordera and Arbúcies stream route” is now signposted along its entire length. However, the information available on the website will be updated over the coming weeks. Currently, of the new signposted sections, you can now download the information and tracks for the section between Arbúcies and Sant Marçal.
After many weeks of work, and once all the works necessary for the preparation and signage of the route have been completed, today we can offer you information on the section between Arbúcies and Sant Marçal. This is the first section that can be done along the branch of the Arbúcies stream, which will allow you to connect the Coll de Sant Marçal with the town of Arbúcies.
The Coll de Sant Marçal is a very strategic point of the route, as it is where the itineraries split off along the slopes of the Arbúcies stream or the Tordera. It is here, within a few meters of each other, that the Tordera river, which drains its waters towards the Vallès, is born, as is the Arbúcies stream, which pours its waters towards the Selva. It will not be until Hostalric, where the two itineraries meet again, that the waters of the two river courses also converge again to head towards the mouth.
Currently, you can now have the information on this section, which presents variants to be done exclusively on foot, which represents a high physical demand, especially if you do it from Arbúcies to Sant Marçal, as you have to overcome an accumulated incline of nearly 1000 meters and a distance of about 12 kilometers if you do it on foot, or about 15 kilometers if you do it by bicycle. You will find information about the section in the following links on the website, which vary depending on the direction in which you want to do it:
We leave you with a photograph of the source of the Tordera, a few meters from Sant Marçal, and we hope you like the section and will be encouraged to do it!
