The Sant Celoni City Council has recently started different actions within the framework of the Tordera Route that will imply substantial improvements for the users of the itinerary. Broadly speaking, different sections of bicycle lanes will be enabled in paved urban sections and the surface will be improved in different sections of the track that, due to the rains, were in poor condition. The contract, awarded for a total value of 137,505.14 €, began on September 16th, and is expected to be completed in a month.
After the Tordera route was signposted last year in the municipalities of the Barcelona province, there are already several works that have been executed since then to maintain and improve the route’s layout. The most recent actions are being carried out by the Sant Celoni City Council, which has awarded a contract to improve the route in its municipality. Specifically, the contract, awarded for a total value of 137,505.14 €, began on September 16th and provides for two main types of actions:
- Give continuity to the bicycle lane in the Temple area, right at the entrance to the municipality through the Font dels Enamorats park. With this action, the bike lane will continue in front of the Sot de les granotes gym and head towards Can Draper. It will be a segregated and signposted bike lane, completely safe for users.
- Enable a bike lane in the small 150m section of the Olzinelles BV-5112 road through which the route runs.
- Level out the track sections that are in worse condition, by adding material to improve the surface layer, and repair with more consistent material those path sections that have more slope and suffer more from erosion due to the rains.
These actions are in addition to all the works carried out this year in the Girona province, where the works on the Girona sections have been completed. We leave you with an image of the construction of the bicycle lane on the Olzinelles road.
