Results of the semi-annual route review

During these summer months, we have been carrying out a review of the entire Tourdera route and issuing reports to each of the maintenance managers in each municipality, in order to detect problems on the route and prepare it for autumn. We have prepared this short article with the most relevant results.

During this review of the route, carried out between the months of June and August, a total of 155 incidents were detected across the 18 municipalities participating in the route. For each town council, a corresponding detailed report has been prepared, which includes a file for each incident, and which we send to the entity in charge of maintenance in the municipality in question.

In general, maintenance on the Tourdera is carried out in three ways: the town council itself performs improvement actions through its municipal brigade, in other cases it is the maintenance crew of the Montseny Natural Park, some municipalities have subcontracted the route maintenance service from the Consell Comarcal de la Selva or, some others, do it through the Fundació Acció Baix Montseny.

As we always say, route maintenance is a basic aspect of offering a quality product for Tourdera users, which is why every year we carry out two complete reviews of the entire route and communicate everything detected to the maintenance managers of each municipality. Also, remember that we have a web form so that the users of the route themselves can communicate the incidents you detect (www.tourdera.cat/incidencies).

During the review carried out this summer, the greatest number of incidents has been, as always, regarding signage, a normal fact considering that there are more than 850 signage supports and 1800 signs on the route. More specifically, in this review, 130 incidents regarding signage (84%) and 25 regarding sections (16%) were detected, which represents a proportion very similar to the last 2023 review, in which the percentages were 82% and 18%, respectively. Of all the incidents, 120 were minor (77%), compared to the 14 remaining serious (23%), which implies a lower weight of serious incidents. Finally, during the review tasks, 34 incidents were resolved on the ground (22%), always taking into account that these are tasks that can be done during the field visit, such as replacing Tourdera vinyls, straightening bent signs, etc. The rest of the incidents (120) were all pending resolution (77%), except for 1 that was in resolution (1%).

Here are some example photographs of some maintenance work recently carried out:

Replacement of missing plate in Fogars de la Selva
Relocation of fallen marker in Arbúcies
Vegetation control around marker in Arbúcies
Replacement of tracking vinyl in Montseny

We hope you enjoy all the sections of the Tourdera and remember that if you detect incidents, you can communicate them to us through the web form!!!
