Completion of the works at La Tourdera

On June 28, all the adaptation and signage works for the sections of the Tordera and Arbúcies stream route in the municipalities of the Girona area were completed. Currently, you can enjoy the entire route, from the Font Bona in Sant Marçal to the mouth of the Tordera, both through Blanes and Malgrat, and descending along the Arbúcies stream or the main course of the Tordera.

After a long period to make the “Tordera and Arbúcies stream route” project, also known as Tourdera, a reality, last June the first major phase of the project was completed, which is the signage and the execution of the minimum essential works to be able to link, on foot and by bicycle, the source of the Tordera and its mouth, passing either through the main section of the Tordera river or through one of its main tributaries, the Arbúcies stream. During the last few months, work has been carried out in the municipalities of Arbúcies, Blanes, Breda, Hostalric, Riells i Viabrea, Massanes, and Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, where surfacing adaptation works and signage tasks of the route have been carried out, with the co-financing of the Girona Provincial Council.

With these actions, the objective of making a route that follows the Tordera and the Arbúcies stream a reality is met, through the practice of cycling and hiking, allowing the population to discover the territory, promoting the knowledge of nature and heritage associated with the river, and fostering the local development of the municipalities with the arrival of new visitors.

The most important actions stand out:

1 – Vertical signage of the entire itinerary with follow-up banners, markers, information panels, etc., to facilitate the following of the route on the ground.

2 – Adaptation of a section of path in Hostalric, between the limit of the territory of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu and the park of the streams of Hostalric.

3 – Improvement of safety and tracking in Massanes and Riells i Viabrea, consisting of painting signs on the ground of dangerous sections and the segregation of a bicycle lane.

4 – Adaptation of a section of path in Arbúcies, around the Molí de les Pipes, and adaptation of small ramps to make the itinerary along the Arbúcies stream suitable for bicycles.

 

5 – Creation of an access ramp to the bridge between Blanes and Palafolls, which allows crossing the Tordera with total safety and accessing the final branch of the route on the Blanes side.

 

6 – Creation of an access path to the Blanes train station, for hikers and bicycles, which connects with the main itinerary of the route.

 

Currently, with all the actions carried out, it is possible to do the entire Tourdera route, which you can consult in the itinerary section of the website, although the detailed information by sections of the Girona municipalities, as well as the summary sheets, will be updated in the coming weeks.
