Advice on behavior in the natural environment

Carrying out activities in the natural environment requires that our behavior be appropriate and respectful of the surroundings. This implies that there is a series of “rules” that we must adhere to so that our leisure activities, such as cycling or hiking in the natural environment, generate the least possible impact. For this reason, we leave you in this article some tips on behavior in the natural environment.

1) Pet owners are responsible for their behavior. Therefore, if you go with your animals to the environment, you are responsible for their actions and you must know that they cannot disturb the animals and habitats of the natural spaces, nor bother the rest of the visitors. Take special care with behavior to avoid disturbing fluvial fauna and disturbances in the natural environment. Do not abandon them as they can become predatory animals, as well as harmful to natural ecosystems. Always keep your dog on a leash.

2) Access to the river area is regulated by Law 9/1995, of July 27th. Therefore, do not access it in any way if you are not sure it is permitted, as it may pose a danger to the preservation of the river ecosystem and the safety of other users. Remember that you cannot cross the riverbed with motor vehicles or circulate along the riverbanks unless expressly permitted.

3) Camping is only allowed in expressly created areas or in expressly indicated places. To camp in a natural space, you need permission from the private owner and the town council or municipality must not expressly prohibit camping. In the case of a Natural Park, permission from the park management body is also required. Even with permission to camp, you must always respect the fauna and flora. If you camp in river areas and have to clean utensils, do not wash them directly in the river or stream; avoid foam going into the water.

4) Always collect all the waste you generate and take it away to deposit it in collection containers. Remember that there is waste that can take many, many years to disappear and that can affect flora, fauna, and water. It is everyone’s responsibility to collect waste and recycle it.

5) Remember that as a general rule you cannot make fire in the natural environment without express authorization. You must be very careful with everything that carries a risk of fire. If you detect any suspicious smoke, call 112 immediately.
_
6) Respect the installed signage elements at all times, such as posters and indicative and informative signs. If you see acts of vandalism, notify the municipality’s town council, or if you are doing the Tordera route, you can report the incident using the form on the website.
_
6) Remember that in protected natural spaces you need to process an authorization to carry out an activity. Any sporting event, educational, research, or recreational activity, among others, must be previously authorized by the natural space authorities, even activities such as flying drones for recordings or filming.
_
7) Bicycle users must always take care not to affect hikers who share the itinerary with you, without interrupting the passage, avoiding collisions, etc.
