Last Wednesday, June 11th, the first session of the Governance Board for the Freshwater Treasures project was held at the Les Llobateres natural area, in an unbeatable setting to debate, share, and add visions regarding the conservation of wetlands in the territory. The meeting brought together members of the steering group and representatives of the advisory council in a collective exercise of co-responsibility and participatory planning.

The objective of the session was to build consensus on the actions to be deployed within the framework of the project, gathering the needs, proposals, and points of view of various stakeholders. The project’s steering group is formed by SEO/BirdLife, Sant Celoni City Council, the Catalan Water Agency, and the Directorate General for Environmental Policies and the Natural Environment. The session was also attended by representatives from the Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences, Montseny Natural Park, the Rivus Foundation, the Platform for the Defense of the Tordera and Montseny, the Institute of Aquatic Ecology at the University of Girona, and the Tourdera project.
During the meeting, the current status of the project was presented, which has begun with an in-depth diagnosis of the biodiversity of Les Llobateres and initial management actions. Among these, the reopening of a space for the creation of a hay meadow stands out, with the aim of improving the habitat for various species of insects and birds.

Furthermore, a collective assessment was made of the current needs of the space and the challenges for the medium and long term. The day culminated with a field visit that allowed for the in situ visualization of the first actions executed, as well as some of the problems to be solved.
The session was highly valued by the participants, who highlighted its dynamic and constructive character. The ideas and perspectives gathered will help guide both the development of the project and the consolidation of the Governance Board itself.
