Did you know that you can visit various permanent exhibitions and audiovisuals at the different offices and information points of the Montseny Natural Park? We encourage you to do a stretch of the Tourdera and discover more anecdotes and stories of the Montseny massif, declared a Biosphere Reserve since 1978. In this article, we summarize the main exhibitions and audiovisuals that you will find in the municipalities where the Tourdera takes place.
Montseny is a mountain massif of high interest, not only natural, but also regarding its settlement and evolution since antiquity, the legends that accompany it, the traditions, historical figures, etc. To delve deeper into its knowledge, throughout the territory where the “Tordera and Arbúcies stream route” develops, you will be able to enjoy different permanent exhibitions and audiovisuals that will help you better understand the whole set.
In the town of Montseny, you can visit two permanent exhibitions, both organized by the Town Council. The first one, called ‘Les esquelles d’en Jaume’, is the result of a lifelong search, that of Jaume Traveria Vila, first a Montseny shepherd and later a passionate collector. For more than half a century, Jaume -with the constant presence and encouragement of his wife Montserrat Garriga- recovered countless bells of various types and origins until forming an extraordinary collection of these small sound instruments, associated for centuries with the shepherd’s daily life.
The second exhibition, more focused on the interaction between man and Montseny, is divided into four areas: ‘From the first occupations to the farmhouse crisis’, ‘The city discovers the mountain’, ‘From the Patronage time to the Montseny Natural Park’, and ‘The future of the Park’, and it also houses a map with the evolution of the protection area and three display cases showing different physical elements that illustrate the historical periods of this protection. A small audiovisual closes the exhibition.

Permanent exhibition “Patxot Universe” and audiovisual “Rafael Patxot”
At Masia Mariona, located in the municipality of Fogars de Montclús and home to the offices of the Montseny Natural Park, you can visit a permanent exhibition and an audiovisual about Rafael Patxot (you can find more information in this article). The exhibition consists of a tour of six rooms: Room 1 (Rafael Patxot, science and patronage), Room 2 (Catalan Farmhouse), Room 3 (Books and Nature), Room 4 (Clouds), Room 5 (Catalan Observatory), and Room 6 (Popular song). And the audiovisual offers an overview of the scientific and patronage work of Rafael Patxot: the study of the Catalan farmhouse, the relationship with hiking, meteorology, astronomy, and popular songbooks (it lasts approximately 30 minutes).

Fogars de Montclús
Permanent exhibition “Montseny, Biosphere Reserve” and audiovisual screening
The Can Casades Information Center (Ctra. de Sant Celoni a Viladrau, km 21, located in the municipality of Fogars de Montclús (Santa Fe center), although it is not at the foot of our route, offers the general public and free of charge a permanent exhibition and two audiovisuals about the Montseny Massif. The exhibition deals with the Montseny Natural Park and its declaration as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1978, showing the extraordinary biodiversity and the cultural footprint of man in Montseny. Accompanying the exhibition are two audiovisuals, one about “Man and Montseny” and another about “The four seasons in Montseny”.

Fogars de Montclús
Permanent exhibition “Montseny is a mountain”
Exhibition located outside the Fogars de Montclús Information Center, at the access to Montseny Natural Park from the south side of the mountain. This exhibition welcomes you to Montseny Natural Park, with a small sample of the diversity of this natural space, a Biosphere Reserve, highlighting the different areas that can be found there: geology, fauna, flora, history, and architecture.

Audiovisual “Legends of Montseny”
The Ethnological Museum of Montseny (La Gabella) has a tour through the imaginary and magical world of Montseny. A center for conservation, dissemination, research, and exhibition of the cultural and ethnographic heritage of the Montseny massif, with a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions, and the multivision ‘Legends of Montseny’ and ‘Montsoriu Castle’.
