Yesterday, Tuesday, June 12th, the official inauguration of the first sections of the Tordera route took place, culminating a first phase of the project in which 11 municipalities have already completed all the signage and paving improvement actions, reaching 114 kilometers of fully practicable itinerary.
After a few months of work, 11 of the 18 Tourdera municipalities already have practicable sections of the route. And, to make it official, on June 12th, an official inauguration act was held on the route itself with all the municipalities and organizations involved in the project.
Specifically, the act took place in the municipality of Tordera and featured speeches by the mayor of Tordera, Joan Carles Cañizares, who welcomed the public and expressed the municipality’s commitment from the beginning to a project very linked to this river that gives them its name. Next, the president of the Consell Comarcal de la Selva, Salvador Balliu, expressed the entity’s leadership in the project since its inception, carrying out the technical coordination and always with the goal of economically boosting the municipalities of the entire Tordera basin.
Following this, representatives of the provincial councils (Diputacions) of Girona and Barcelona intervened. In the case of Girona, the Deputy of Environment, Lluís Costabella, highlighted the interest of the route and the help that the Girona Provincial Council will offer for the promotion of the actions in the Girona demarcation. Finally, to close the speeches, the Deputy of Economic Promotion of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Marc Castells, expressed the high interest in the route, the fact of being a joint project between so many municipalities, and the great similarity with the Vies Blaves project that his corporation is promoting, which is why they decided to finance the construction works of the sections that were inaugurated yesterday.
Before ending the act, all attendees were invited to do a small section of the route, during which the media were attended to, and it finished with a small snack while commenting on the project details.
So, congratulations to all the entities involved in the project and courage for the second phase that begins from now on and consists of carrying out all the actions in the remaining 7 municipalities of the Girona demarcation.
