La Tourdera joins World Tourism Day

On September 27th, 2025, World Tourism Day is celebrated around the world, an event promoted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) that this year focuses on “Tourism and sustainable transformation.” This commemoration aims to highlight the importance of a sector that is key to economic, cultural, and social development, but which must also responsibly address the environmental and social challenges of our time.

The Tourdera route, which connects Montseny with the mouth of the Tordera River, is a good example of how tourism can become a tool for positive transformation. Its route of more than 100 km follows the Tordera River and its natural surroundings, valuing the fluvial landscape, biodiversity, and the cultural heritage of the municipalities it crosses. An experience that is committed to slow and sustainable mobility, promoting hiking and cycling as ways to enjoy the territory with respect and awareness.

This world day is an opportunity to reflect on the role of tourism as a driver of sustainable change. The Tourdera, with its transversal nature, contributes to:

  • Preserving the natural environment: the route promotes the discovery of areas of high ecological interest, reminding visitors of the importance of conserving fluvial spaces and their biodiversity.
  • Boosting local economies: the route connects towns and cities in the Tordera basin, encouraging the consumption of local products and collaboration with local agents in the territory.
  • Promoting sustainable mobility: walking or cycling along the Tourdera route reduces environmental impact and offers healthy and accessible alternatives to discover the territory.
  • Reinforcing cultural identity: along the route, visitors can learn about historical heritage by establishing ties with local communities.

To celebrate this September 27th, we encourage you to discover a section of the Tourdera route. A different and conscious way of doing tourism that fits perfectly with the spirit of World Tourism Day. Because transforming tourism is possible, and the Tourdera is living proof of it.
