As you know, the Tourdera presents an itinerary with different difficulties, with very easy and flat sections, but also with much longer routes with a lot of elevation gain. In winter, when the landscape changes again after all the autumn leaves have fallen, it can be a good time to do the more demanding sections, since the temperature and the sun will not be the limiting factors that we find in the summer season.
At the end of December, winter takes over from autumn, moving from a landscape of great beauty, with yellowish tones of leaves about to fall (as we showed you in this old article), to a more wintry landscape, with bare deciduous trees and the first hours of the morning often with frost.

Although this year is being really hot, and negative temperatures are resisting, apart from the morning frosts, at the highest points of the route, such as the Coll de Sant Marçal, we can sometimes find snow. As you can see in the image, in these cases it is not advisable to do the route, but it is always exciting to find a little snow!

Winter also gives us beautiful riverside landscapes that allow us to better observe the depth of the forest, since most of the vegetation in these environments is deciduous, as can be seen in the following photograph taken in Sant Celoni.

But one of the main advantages that winter gives us is that it is not hot and the insolation is much lower. Therefore, we recommend you do more demanding sections, such as from Montseny to Sant Marçal or from Arbúcies to Sant Marçal, which are routes with much more elevation gain and longer distances. Are you encouraged to do a section this winter?
