This April, the works corresponding to the project “Installation of lighting on the cycle path from Riells i Viabrea to Breda” were completed, an action that improves the visibility and safety of the path connecting both municipalities and which forms part of a section of the Tourdera.
The main aim of the works was to promote more environmentally friendly mobility, encouraging the use of bicycles and walking among both local residents and visitors. The actions consisted of installing an efficient lighting system using beacons along the route.

What improvements have been made?
- Improved safety for users at night or in low-visibility conditions
- Reduced environmental and landscape impact thanks to the use of low-consumption technology
- Respectful integration with the natural environment.
These works, with a total cost of €118,597.96 (VAT excluded), aim to promote healthy lifestyle habits by making it easier to replace the use of private vehicles with bicycles, as well as improving the connection between Breda and Riells i Viabrea. The initiative helps to strengthen the area’s sustainable tourism offer, making it easier to discover the natural and cultural environment of the area in a more accessible and safer way. It also boosts the local economy and guides the municipalities towards a more sustainable and balanced development model.
