After several months of work, the underpass for the C-35 road, between Riells i Viabrea and La Batllòria (Sant Celoni), is now in operation. In fact, since the end of April, the passage has been reopened while the remaining work is being finished. Thus, this section of the Tourdera, which was affected for several months and required crossing the road via a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, is now once again crossed normally and safely under the road.
Since October 2021, the underpass for the C-35 road between the municipalities of Riells i Viabrea and Sant Celoni (La Batllòria) was out of service due to construction work on a roundabout at the junction of the C-35 and the GI-552, between La Batllòria, in the municipality of Sant Celoni, and Riells i Viabrea (la Selva). In parallel to the roundabout designed to channel traffic and improve road safety at this junction, the work has also served to improve accessibility to the pedestrian underpass that connects the urban areas of Riells i Viabrea with the center of La Batllòria.
Between the start of these works in October and April of this year, a pedestrian crossing with traffic light regulation was enabled, until the new underpass was reopened at the end of April while the remaining works are completed to leave the area fully conditioned. This new passage has much better access than the previous one, where the ramps had very steep slopes. It is currently adapted for people with reduced mobility, making them much less steep and accessible, and much more cycle-friendly for route users traveling by bicycle.
During this construction process, the signage for the Tordera route in the affected areas was removed and has been replaced again once the accesses were adapted. Therefore, all users who are following the Tordera route and wish to divert towards Riells i Viabrea or Breda, passing through La Batllòria, should know that at this point you can cross the C-35 comfortably and with total safety. Currently, some new route signage is still pending and will be placed shortly, right at the intersection between Carrer Comerç and Carrer de Santa Fe, where the route runs.
