This week, the route information panel, which was located at the river mouth, has been moved. Specifically, the panel was in its old location, currently inaccessible to the public, as the area is closed to pedestrians as a measure to preserve the environment. The panel has now been relocated to the viewpoint area, along with other interpretive elements.
As you know, after storm Gloria, the Tordera river mouth has undergone significant changes in usage. Both the Blanes and Malgrat de Mar town councils have closed access to the mouth to preserve the tranquillity and prevent overpressure on the entire ecosystem, which is of vital importance, especially regarding birdlife. Currently, the walkable areas of the river mouth in both municipalities are restricted to the enabled and signposted paths, as well as the observation viewpoints installed, which we announced in this old article.

Regarding the Blanes area, the route no longer reached the sea at the river mouth, as it used to in the past. Some time after the Gloria storm and the COVID-19 lockdown period, access to the mouth was cut off, and for this reason, the panel remained in the closed enclosure. This week, together with the technicians from the Blanes town council and following the indications of the Montnegre and Tordera Naturalist Group, the panel was moved to the viewpoint area to observe the river in a more cryptic and less invasive way for the birds in the riverbed.

On the route map that you will find on the website’s home page, you can see how the route, before heading towards Blanes, has a small branch that takes you to the viewpoints where the panel is located, which is the closest point to the river mouth you can reach. We hope that very soon you will be able to do this section of the route and visit both the viewpoints and the route panel, while enjoying the space and wildlife observation.
