Restoration of the Blanes sections

As you know, during the month of January, with the strong effects of Storm Gloria, the most significant incidents occurred throughout the lower Tordera area, especially in the municipalities of Blanes and Malgrat de Mar. In recent weeks, work has been finalizing in these municipalities, both on the Tordera river embankments and on the Pont d’en Pixota between Blanes and Malgrat.

After many months of work, the bridges over the Tordera River between Blanes and Malgrat de Mar, both the railway line bridge and the GI-6831 road bridge, also known as the Pont d’en Pixota, have already been reconstructed, and it is now possible to travel between the two municipalities at this point. Furthermore, in the reconstruction of the car bridge, which was originally very narrow, it is now a bridge that incorporates a bike lane totally segregated from traffic. The completion of the work on this bridge also means that the section of the Tourdera route that passed underneath them is no longer closed to pedestrians, which previously required a temporary diversion of the route that is no longer necessary.

At the same time, a few weeks ago the work on the Tordera river embankment, also seriously affected by Storm Gloria, was completed. The work involved reconstructing the riprap and re-establishing the paths on top of the embankment itself, which is the itinerary of the Tourdera route. In the coming weeks, the signage damaged by the works will be restored, although the path is perfectly followable.

We leave you with some photographs of the before and after of the actions. The first four are images of the damage to the bridges and their reconstruction, and the remaining two show a damaged area of the Tordera embankment and its reconstruction:
