During the months of June and July, we carried out the first complete review of the entire route for this year, 2024. As always, after the review, we issued a report with all findings to each of the 18 participating municipalities. Would you like to know a little about the results?
One of the actions we take within the framework of the Tourdera project is to carry out two complete reviews of the route each year, to be aware of the route’s status and ensure that users can follow it without problems. During the last review we conducted in the months of June and July, we detected a total of 134 incidents spread across the 18 municipalities participating in the route. A corresponding detailed report has been prepared for each town council, which includes a sheet for each incident, and which we send to the entity in charge of maintenance in the municipality in question.
In general, maintenance on the Tourdera is carried out in three ways: in some cases, it is the town council itself that carries out improvement actions through its municipal brigade; in other cases, it is the maintenance crew of the Montseny Natural Park; and finally, some municipalities outsource maintenance, either to the itinerary maintenance service of the Selva County Council or, in some other cases, through the Fundació Acció Baix Montseny.
Maintaining any hiking or cycle tourism itinerary is a very important aspect when offering a quality product for users, in our case the Tourdera. That is why we carry out these two complete reviews every year and ensure that the people responsible for maintenance in each municipality provide a solution. Also, remember that as users, you can send us any incident you detect through the web form available (www.tourdera.cat/incidencies): you can tell us what you have found, attach photographs, etc.
In the review we carried out at the beginning of this summer, as always, the largest number of incidents concerns signage—the elements that suffer the most from both bad weather and vandalism—especially taking into account that there are more than 850 signage supports and 1800 signs on the Tourdera. More specifically, in this review, 114 signage incidents (85%) and 20 section incidents (15%) were detected, percentages that are always very similar between the different reviews, but with an increase compared to the last review, which is also normal after a very rainy spring where many incidents referred to the need to control vegetation that was covering signs. Of all the incidents, 98 were minor (73%), compared to the remaining 36 serious ones (27%), where serious incidents are those that could pose a significant risk of the user losing the track of the route and getting lost. Finally, during the review tasks, 35 incidents (26%) could already be resolved on the ground, always bearing in mind that these are tasks that can be done while taking advantage of the field visit, such as replacing Tourdera vinyls, straightening bent banners, simple pruning of vegetation, etc. The remaining 99 incidents were pending resolution (74%), although they are always resolved in the days following the issuance of reports.

We leave you some example photographs of some maintenance work carried out recently:

We hope you enjoy all the sections of the Tourdera, and remember that if you detect incidents, you can communicate them to us through the web form!!!
