Section Tourdera Gualba – La Batllòria
Descripció del tram
The Gualba – La Batllòria section is an easy route of just over 6 kilometres in length, following the old royal road of Gualba and the PR-C 211 trail, on a walk that is mostly downhill towards La Batllòria. It is a connecting route between the village of Gualba and the main Tordera Route, which in this case passes through La Batllòria. The section begins in the village of Gualba, specifically in Plaça Joan Ragué i Camps, in front of the town hall, where parking and various services are available and where you will also find the route information panel. Very close by is the Can Figueres tourist information point, where you can obtain any information you may need about Gualba.
At the corner of the square, in front of the town hall, you will find the first route wayfinding sign, indicating the way out of the village. There you will see that cyclists and hikers must follow different exit directions in order to avoid problems with traffic flow and street directions within the village. Throughout the route, you will find wayfinding signs or markers that will help you follow the route and enjoy a pleasant walk through the natural surroundings of the first foothills of the Montseny. During the itinerary, do not leave the marked path and always respect safety recommendations and nature conservation guidelines.
More information about this section…
This section of the Tourdera Route, between the town of Gualba and the village of La Batllòria, is shared throughout its length by hikers and cyclists, except for the first few metres leaving the village. In front of Gualba Town Hall, you will find an information panel with route details and the points of interest along the way. In total, the route covers 6.3 kilometres, with a cumulative descent of 105 metres, making it a very easy section. At the start of the route, you will find a wayfinding sign indicating the path to follow, whether you are travelling by bicycle or on foot; the two routes remain practically parallel for less than 600 metres. You will notice that much of the itinerary shares its route with the Camí Ral de Gualba and the PR-C 211, from the village to the train station, so the Tourdera markers and those of this route coexist.
Once you leave the village, approximately near the Primary Healthcare Centre (CAP), the route enters a green area running parallel to the stream. In the first section, you will cross the Gualba stream through an area of great scenic interest, passing by Les Cases Blanques and Can Joan Vernedes along a forest track until reaching the junction with the old royal road. At this point, the route becomes a fairly wide path that crosses the Can Sivina stream via a footbridge with railings, along a very attractive section well shaded by the tree canopy.
Continuing along the route, you will head towards the Rieral de la Barceloneta area, a section where the itinerary follows forest tracks connecting various farmhouses (Can Pere Maimó, Vil·la Maria, Can Cortina, etc.), among which are Restaurant Can Pascual, which also has a picnic area, and the Masferrer hotel, located at Can Masferrer. This is therefore a particularly interesting section of the route, where you will find services such as a bar, picnic area and hotel. Continuing in the same direction, you will reach the BV-5115 road, near the entrance to the Can Pla residential area, where you will find a wayfinding sign indicating the route towards La Batllòria and the train station. At this point, you also have the opportunity to detour to Gualba de Baix, which belongs to the same municipality of Gualba and is located beside the Tordera River.
If you continue towards La Batllòria, you will reach Gualba train station, although you should take care because parts of the route run alongside the BV-5115 road and the access road to the station. Once you arrive at the station, you will cross beneath the railway tracks through an underpass and, on the other side, following the signs, you will arrive at La Batllòria, which belongs to the municipality of Sant Celoni. Here, you will also find various food and restaurant services.
