Section Tourdera Massanes – Hostalric

The Massanes–Hostalric section is a very easy route of approximately 4.5 kilometres in length, linking the urban centres of Massanes and Hostalric. The route begins on Carrer Major, in front of the municipal warehouse, just at the entrance to the village of Massanes, where you will find the Tordera Route information panel (mounted on the wall of the warehouse). If you are travelling by car, parking is readily available. To start the route, leave the village via Carrer Major towards the GIV-5121 road. Before setting off, however, you can refill your water bottle at the fountain located beside the playground next to the municipal warehouse.

You should always follow the Tourdera wayfinding signs or the yellow painted markers that you will find throughout the route. Please remember not to leave the marked path at any point during the itinerary and always respect the safety recommendations and the natural environment.

To follow the Tourdera Route section between Massanes and Hostalric, which is shared throughout by hikers and cyclists, you must first travel to Massanes. In the village, you will find parking facilities, and the route begins at the municipal warehouse located on Carrer Major, just at the entrance to the village from the GIV-5121 road. On the wall of the warehouse, you will find the route information panel, from where the route will take you to the medieval town of Hostalric in approximately 4 kilometres. This is a very easy section that takes place mainly on paved surfaces, which are very well signposted with road markings such as pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes, red traffic-calming zones and other safety features.

Throughout the route, you will find Tourdera wayfinding signs and yellow painted trail markers. These yellow markers follow the standard hiking code: a single line indicates that you are on the correct path, a cross indicates that you are on the wrong path, and a 90° angle mark indicates a sudden change of direction or a turn. You will also notice that, in areas shared with vehicles, parts of the roadway have been marked in red and route logos have been added to make navigation easier.

The first section of the route follows the GIV-5121 road, so particular care should be taken during the approximately 850 metres of descent before turning onto a side paved track. From this point onwards and all the way to Hostalric, traffic is very light. First, you will pass through the Massanes industrial estate using a lane separated from traffic, then continue through the Can Tià Camps residential area and finally reach Hostalric, crossing beneath the Hostalric bypass through an underpass.

Once you arrive in Hostalric, you will first come across the headquarters of the local police. If you are walking, simply continue up Carrer Ravalet until you reach the Torre dels Frares, in front of the Town Hall. From there, the end of the section is located to your left, in front of the Tourist Office (Domus Sent Soví). If you are cycling, you should instead continue along Avinguda Coronel Estrada, as the alternative route would lead you into a one-way street in the wrong direction. Once you reach Plaça dels Bous, you can continue without any directional restrictions towards the Tourist Office (Domus Sent Soví), where this section officially ends.
