Section Tourdera Mosqueroles – Montseny
Descripció del tram
The Mosqueroles–Montseny section is a demanding route of approximately 11–12 kilometres in length (depending on whether it is completed on foot or by bicycle), requiring a considerable elevation gain, mainly uphill. The route begins in the village of Mosqueroles, where parking is available, as well as services such as the Montseny Natural Park Tourist Information Office, restaurants and other facilities. More specifically, the route starts in front of the Town Hall, following the road from Mosqueroles towards Can Riera Ciuret.
By following the signs provided throughout the route, whether wayfinding posts or trail markers, you will be able to complete the itinerary and enjoy a rewarding walk through the protected natural environment of the Parc Natural del Montseny. It is important to remain on the marked route at all times and to respect the local flora and fauna.
Please note that the route includes a variant exclusively for hikers between Montseny and La Costa del Montseny, where bicycles are not permitted. For this reason, cyclists wishing to follow the route should pay close attention to the signage and take the designated cycling variant at this point.
Cycling variant
The cycling variant also shares the first part of the section with the hiking route, mainly along wide forest tracks through a remarkable woodland environment, with some paved stretches, as far as La Costa del Montseny. At La Costa del Montseny, you will find a fountain, a church, restaurants and other services, making it an ideal place to take a short break before beginning the final part of the journey to Montseny.
From La Costa del Montseny to Montseny, you should follow the route markers, which will lead you first along the La Costa del Montseny road and then along the Montseny road (BV-5301), all the way to the village of Montseny.
Hiking variant
The hiking variant of this section is 11.3 km long and begins in front of the Town Hall in Mosqueroles. Following the route signs at all times, you should head north towards La Costa del Montseny along the Camí de Mosqueroles. The route initially follows a wide forest track throughout and, for some kilometres, even becomes a paved road as far as Can Riera Ciuret, where there is a campsite and services such as a restaurant.
From Can Riera Ciuret, continue along a wide forest track to La Costa del Montseny, where you will find the Font del Rector, a good place to refill your water supplies or cool off. You can also visit the church and make use of the local catering services.
When you resume your journey, continuing northwards, you should head towards the La Costa del Montseny road in the direction of the village of Montseny. At this point, cyclists continue along the road, while hikers can follow a forest trail through the Montseny woods, which coincides with the GR-5 long-distance footpath. This path leads directly to the village of Montseny through an area of outstanding natural beauty, characterised by dense forests, shaded streams and tranquil woodland scenery.
Once in the village of Montseny, you will find shops, restaurants, a tourist information office and other services, as well as another fountain where you can refresh yourself: the Font del Pujol.
