As we explained to you in another post, since April 1, 2023, the old train station building of Santa Maria de Palautordera, renamed Montseny Via Natural and managed by the Rutatur company (a participant in the Tourdera directory of companies), has become a source of adventures and discoveries for locals and visitors alike. And, this past Saturday, April 6, on the occasion of its first anniversary as a centre for active and sustainable tourism, it became the starting point of a very special tourism-sports challenge, “La Rutatur”: a route with a total distance of 90 km and an elevation gain of 550m on mountain bikes.
To celebrate the first year of commitment and adventures, this past April 6, the Rutatur company organised an anniversary day, consisting of a descent along the Tourdera to the river mouth, and returning to the starting point. 36 participants took part in the activity and it began with great enthusiasm, motivation, anticipation, and energy. In some cases, users opted to bring their own bicycle, while others rented the innovative electric bicycles available at the centre, thus demonstrating that adventure is within everyone’s reach.
Following the Tourdera route from the Montseny Via Natural centre itself to the mouth of the Tordera River and back, the attendees were able to test themselves while pedalling through some of the most emblematic corners of the area. But it was not just a physical effort or a personal challenge; it became a unique opportunity to connect with nature, free oneself from daily tensions, and create a fantastic community among two-wheel enthusiasts.
The route was full of memorable moments from its start and, halfway through the journey, when the midday sun began to make itself felt, Cafè de Palafolls, another company participating in the Tourdera directory, welcomed all the participants to offer us a well-deserved meal that allowed us to recover the energy necessary to face the return. But not everything went smoothly and, as in any similar event, there were also some setbacks. Chain slips, falls without serious consequences, and other small unforeseen events completed the experience, making it more real and human. Although, with shared laughter and extended hands to help each other, these small obstacles were overcome without further importance.
Finally, when the wheels returned to the train station building, where it all began, widespread fatigue but also a feeling of satisfaction flooded the atmosphere. And so ended the commemorative activity of Rutatur’s first year, a year of memories, a year of commitment to nature and adventure… In the air it was already noticeable that it was not a farewell, it was just celebration and the prelude to many more adventures to come!
