Start of reconstruction work on the Ramió footbridge

After a long time, we can finally announce that construction work has begun on the reconstruction of the Ramió footbridge, a historic footbridge over the Tordera River where the Tourdera passed before Storm Gloria, between the Llobateres wetland and Hostalric. This crossing, much used by the residents of Ramió, in the municipality of Fogars de la Selva, was seriously affected by the impact of Gloria, which forced a detour in the Tordera route to avoid this passage.

More than two years have passed since the entire Tordera basin suffered one of the most significant downpours in recent years, with a multitude of infrastructure affected. As we already explained in this article about the damages from Storm Gloria, the consequences were disastrous, with many effects which have gradually been resolved as the town councils have obtained funding, such as the cases of the Santa Maria de Palautordera footbridge, the reconstruction of the slopes in the town of Tordera and the subsequent remodeling of the river promenade or the footbridge over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes, among many other actions.

Today we can give you the good news that one of the footbridges over the Tordera River where the Tourdera used to pass, the Ramió footbridge, will be operational again in the coming months, as construction work on its reconstruction has begun. This footbridge was widely used by the residents of Fogars de la Selva who live in the Ramió area, who used it to cross the river very close to the Gorg d’en Perxistó, in the municipality of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu. As a consequence of its disappearance, a modification of the Tourdera route was carried out, as we explained in this article, since the river crossing prevented the correct following of the route.

This week, the first phase of the work began, consisting of earthworks and the formation of walls. In a second phase, the upper slabs will be placed on the walls, which, taking into account the holiday period and the supply crisis, does not yet allow a definitive date to be guaranteed. Despite this, the forecast is that the footbridge will be fully operational in November, although it could be sooner. In any case, we will keep you informed!
