Section Tourdera Fogars de la Selva – Hostalric

This section of the Tourdera Route, between Fogars de la Selva and the town of Hostalric, is shared throughout its entire length by hikers and cyclists. In total, it is approximately 4.5 kilometres long, with a cumulative ascent of only 32 metres, making the overall difficulty of the route low. If you wish, you can also extend the section a little further and finish it at the Arbúcies stream (PEIN protected area), where the route connects with the Arbúcies Stream branch or continues along the main Tordera Route (you only need to follow the signposts; in this case, the total distance is 7.2 kilometres). At the start of the route, at the Church of Sant Cebrià de Fogars, you will find a wayfinding sign indicating the route to follow from this point, whether you are travelling by bicycle or on foot, as well as an information panel about the Tourdera. You should head upstream along the paved road beside the Tordera River towards Hostalric and, after about 700 metres, you will find the first wayfinding sign.

At the beginning of the section, opposite the church, there is a parking area where you can leave your vehicle if you arrive by car. Once you start following the direction towards Hostalric, you will see that the first 600 metres of the route follow a paved road with very little traffic, which leads to the sports area of Fogars de la Selva and passes very close to the town hall. The wayfinding signs make the route very easy to follow, although if you are ever in doubt, you only need to look for the yellow trail markings that indicate you are on the correct path. The meaning of these markings follows the standard system used on painted hiking routes: a single line indicates that you are on the correct path, a cross indicates that you are on the wrong path, and a 90° angle marker indicates a sharp change of direction or a turn.

Continuing along the route, once you have passed the sports area, you will leave the paved road and enter an area of poplar plantations along a forest track that brings you back towards the Tordera River. After passing through all the poplar groves, you should continue alongside the river until the end of the section, with constant views of the riverbed and its riverside vegetation. During the final part of the route, you will travel between the river and the industrial estate until reaching the bridge of the BV-5122 road. Once you cross the bridge and enter Hostalric, you will first come across the local police headquarters. If you are on foot, simply walk up carrer Ravalet until you reach the Torre dels Frares, opposite the town hall, where on your left you will find the end of the section in front of the tourist office (Domus Sent Soví). If you are travelling by bicycle, you must go up Avinguda Coronel Estrada, otherwise you would be travelling against a one-way street. Once you reach Plaça dels Bous, you can continue without any directional restrictions to the tourist office (Domus Sent Soví), where the section ends.
