More information about this section…

The Tourdera Route section between Fogars de la Selva and Tordera is shared throughout its entire length by hikers and cyclists. In total, it is approximately 7.3 kilometres long, with a cumulative ascent of 64 metres and an overall low level of difficulty. The route begins directly in front of the Church of Sant Cebrià de Fogars, where you can leave your car and where you will find a wayfinding sign indicating the route to follow from this point, as well as an information panel about the Tourdera. You should take the track behind the church, following the course of the Tordera River.

During the first 700 metres of the route, you will enter the Mediterranean woodland of Turó de Can Simó along a forest track, the site of the first settlements in Fogars. This part of the itinerary involves the greatest elevation gain, as once you have passed the hill, you will join the old road from Fogars to Tordera, running parallel to the Parc dels Prínceps residential area. At this point, a wayfinding sign indicates a detour to the Museu de la Pagesia, located approximately 1,400 metres away, where you can see a recreation of a traditional Catalan farmhouse and an extensive exhibition of farming tools.

If you continue along the route towards Tordera, for approximately one kilometre you will be able to walk or cycle along a compacted gravel shoulder beside the paved road, until both routes merge. Nevertheless, this is a road with low traffic volume, equipped with speed-reduction measures and signage indicating that it is shared by vehicles, hikers and cyclists. Along this stretch, you will pass through Pla de la Júlia, where the Estany de la Júlia is located, a small wetland area included in the PEIN protected network.

At the end of the old Fogars-to-Tordera road, right at its junction with the BV-5122 road, the route joins a wooden footbridge that connects with the Tordera riverside promenade. From this point to the town of Tordera, the route is completely separated from motor traffic, following a pleasant riverside path alongside the Tordera, where you will find several picnic tables and rest areas. If you visit on a Sunday, you will come across the Tordera market, renowned throughout the region and attracting large numbers of visitors every week. For excellent views over the Tordera River, you can also take the opportunity to walk onto the Pont de Ferro, a footbridge that is one of Tordera’s most iconic landmarks and is located right at the end of the route, where you will also find a route information panel.
