Section Tourdera La Batllòria – Gaserans
Descripció del tram
As a consequence of the significant damage caused by Storm Gloria, part of this section is closed due to the disappearance of the path along the bed of the Arbúcies stream in Sant Feliu de Buixalleu.
The La Batllòria – Gaserans section, mainly due to its length, is a route of moderate difficulty, covering 12.5 kilometres and with a cumulative ascent of 69 m. The section begins on Carrer de la Tordera, in the urban centre of La Batllòria (Sant Celoni), and ends at the Church of Sant Llorenç de Gaserans, in the municipality of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu. In La Batllòria you will find some services, such as restaurants and shops, but you will not find any in Gaserans, so please keep this in mind when planning your outing. This section is shared by hikers and cyclists.
At the start of the section, in La Batllòria, parking is available and you will find the route information panel (at the junction of Carrer de la Tordera and Carrer de les Escoles). To begin the route, follow the signs towards Hostalric. First, you will walk down Carrer de la Tordera, passing beside the football field, until you cross the footbridge over the Tordera River, at which point you should follow the Tordera downstream. The section ends at the Church of Sant Llorenç de Gaserans.

PLEASE NOTE: PART OF THIS SECTION IS CURRENTLY OUT OF SERVICE.
The Tourdera section between La Batllòria and Gaserans is a 12.5-kilometre route of moderate difficulty that takes you from the village of La Batllòria to Sant Llorenç de Gaserans, in the municipality of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu. It is a fairly flat section, with a cumulative ascent of 69 metres, allowing you to discover the natural heritage along the banks of the Tordera River, the lower course of the Arbúcies Stream (a PEIN and Natura 2000 protected area), and the Llobateres wetland. At the same time, along this section you can make a short detour to visit the Gorg d’en Perxistor (signposted from the route), a commemorative monument marking the site of a pool where, according to tradition, Ramon Berenguer II, Cap d’Estopes, was murdered by his brother Berenguer Ramon the Fratricide.
To follow the route, you will find the starting information panel in La Batllòria at the junction of Carrer de la Tordera and Carrer de les Escoles. There, where parking is available, you should head downhill towards the football field and the Tordera River, following the route signs. Once you cross the river via the footbridge, you will join the main route, which you must follow to the left in the direction of Hostalric. At all times, pay attention to the wayfinding signs and the yellow painted trail markers. For much of the route, you will be accompanied by the Tordera River, although at times the route moves slightly away from it. Approximately halfway along the section, you will pass through the Llobateres wetland, a former gravel extraction site restored as a wetland area, where you can stop at one of the birdwatching hides. About three-quarters of the way through the route, you will reach the Arbúcies Stream, just before its waters join those of the Tordera River. At this point, you will leave the main Tourdera route and follow the Arbúcies Stream route, always following the vertical signs towards Gaserans.
From La Batllòria onwards, you will follow forest tracks throughout almost the entire route. Only on the final section will you need to follow a paved road which, although carrying very little traffic, requires attention to vehicles. After approximately one kilometre, you will arrive at the Church of Sant Llorenç de Gaserans, where the section ends. Please note that there are no services available in Gaserans, so plan your route carefully before setting out and take this into account.
