Section Tourdera Montseny – Mosqueroles
Descripció del tram
The Montseny–Mosqueroles section is a demanding route, approximately 11–12 kilometres long (depending on whether it is completed on foot or by bicycle), involving a considerable elevation change. It begins in the village of Montseny, where parking and services such as a tourist information office, restaurants and accommodation are available. More specifically, the route starts at the bus stop, located at the entrance to the village from the BV-5301 road, where the route information panel can also be found.
By following the signs provided throughout the route, whether wayfinding posts or trail markers, you will be able to complete the itinerary and enjoy a rewarding walk through the natural and protected environment of the Parc Natural del Montseny. It is important to remain on the marked route at all times and to respect the local flora and fauna. Please note that the route includes a variant exclusively for hikers between Montseny and La Costa del Montseny, where bicycles are not permitted. For this reason, cyclists wishing to follow the route should pay close attention to the signage and take the designated bicycle variant at this point.
Bicycle variant
The section for cyclists initially follows the BV-5301 road downhill until reaching the road to La Costa del Montseny, where hikers and cyclists rejoin and continue along the same route. In this case, the section is 11.6 km long, with the first kilometres on paved roads leading to La Costa del Montseny, where you can take a break, make use of the local catering services, refill your water supplies at the Font del Rector, or visit the Church of Sant Esteve de La Costa.
Once you resume the route, you will follow a wide forest track with excellent views, which will take you to Can Riera Ciuret, where there is also a campsite. From there, you will continue first along a paved track and then along an unpaved forest road, which will lead you to another of the settlements within the municipality of Fogars de Montclús: Mosqueroles.
In Mosqueroles, you can visit the Church of Sant Martí de Mosqueroles and also the headquarters of the Parc Natural del Montseny, Masia Mariona. In addition to obtaining tourist information about the natural park, you can visit its exhibition area and audiovisual centre. In Mosqueroles, you will also find various services, as well as the Town Hall of Fogars de Montclús.
Hiker variant
The hiker variant of this section is 11.2 km long and begins at the cross located on the access road to the village of Montseny. Hikers should head directly towards the village along the same road, crossing it while following the route markers. In the village of Montseny, you will find numerous services associated with the route, including bars, restaurants, a tourist information office and more. You will also find the Font del Pujol along the route, where you can refill your water supplies. While in the village, you may wish to spend some time visiting the Church of Sant Julià de Montseny, the historical name by which the village was once known, or enjoy the impressive panoramic views from the viewpoint located in front of the tourist office.
Once you have crossed the village, the route leaves Montseny via a small trail that coincides with the GR-5 long-distance footpath, departing through the area known as Font Ferrussa. For approximately 2 kilometres, the itinerary passes through a very pleasant forest environment, passing small groups of houses such as Les Casetes and wooded valleys such as the Sot de Ristronyes, which provides welcome coolness during the summer months. Shortly before reaching La Costa del Montseny, the route joins the BV-5119 road, which leads to this hamlet within the municipality of Fogars de Montclús. Here, you can take a break, make use of the local catering services, refill your water supplies at the Font del Rector, or visit the Church of Sant Esteve de La Costa.
Once you continue your journey, you will follow a wide forest track with excellent views, which leads to Can Riera Ciuret, where there is also a campsite. From there, the route continues first along a paved track and then along an unpaved forest road, leading to another settlement within the municipality of Fogars de Montclús: Mosqueroles.
In Mosqueroles, you can visit the Church of Sant Martí de Mosqueroles and also the headquarters of the Parc Natural del Montseny, Masia Mariona. In addition to obtaining tourist information about the natural park, you can also visit its exhibition area and audiovisual centre. Mosqueroles also offers a number of services, as well as the Town Hall of Fogars de Montclús.
