This week, improvement works have been carried out along the Tourdera route through the municipality of Sant Celoni, which had been significantly damaged after Storm Gloria. Specifically, a major sinkhole in the Llobateres wetland area and the crossing over the Fuirosos stream have been repaired. Remember that before doing any section of the route, you have the route map with the current conditions available.

Signage detour from the main route between Hostalric and Fogars
As we have announced repeatedly, Storm Gloria caused significant damage to the Tourdera route, especially between the municipalities of Hostalric and Fogars de la Selva. Specifically, the route was cut off across the Tordera, and while the crossing remains unrepaired, this week signage has been installed for the route on the other side of the river.
Improvements to the route in the municipality of Arbúcies
The Tourdera route through the municipality of Arbúcies covers no less than a 35.7 km route, from its connection with the municipality of Montseny (near the Coll de Sant Marçal), to Montsoriu Castle, in the municipality of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu. In all these kilometers, the damage during Storm Gloria was significant, especially on the route that coincides with the “Passeig per la riera” (Stream Walk) and at all those points where it crosses watercourses. For this reason, although improvements have already been made, such as those we comment on here, remember that before doing any section, it is advisable to consult the route map with the current conditions.
Improvement works in the municipality of Hostalric
As we have been informing you over the last few days, little by little, the improvement works carried out along the Tourdera route following the passage of Storm Gloria and the slow return to normality with the confinement period are being seen. Today we inform you about the important works that the Hostalric City Council has carried out on the layout of the Tordera route through its municipality. Remember that before doing any section of the route, we have made the route map with the current conditions available to Tourdera users.
Arrangements of the Tourdera in Fogars de la Selva
As we mentioned here last week, we have made the route map available to Tourdera users, showing all current incidents caused by Storm Gloria, which severely damaged infrastructure adjacent to the river. One of the most affected municipalities was Fogars de la Selva, and today we are informing you of the improvements that have already been carried out there. Little by little, we will notify you of the actions that have been taking place in other municipalities.
State of the sections of the Tourdera
Following the damage caused by Storm Gloria, especially severe throughout the Tordera river basin and particularly in areas near the watercourses (where the Tordera route and Arbúcies stream pass), we can now inform you that numerous improvement actions have been carried out and that most of the route sections are operational. However, always check the status of the route via the website and the itinerary map before doing any section to learn about possible issues yet to be resolved.
Inactive route due to storm Glòria
We remind you that, as a consequence of Storm Gloria, passage is not guaranteed along all sections of the Tordera route, where in some cases the damage has been very significant (fords, paths, signage…). For this reason, THE ROUTE IS CURRENTLY INACTIVE and PASSAGE IS NOT ADVISABLE through numerous sections until normality is restored.
Damage caused by Storm Gloria
As a consequence of the effects of Storm Gloria on the Tordera route, it is recommended that in the coming days you do not engage in activities along the sections of the Tordera route. Although water levels are slowly returning to their normal state, the paths are in very poor condition, with large amounts of water and mud, which make hiking and cycling an activity not recommended at this time, in addition to the effects on existing signage.
New activity for the tourdera of the VadeBici group
On March 8th, 2020, the VadeBici cycle tourism group has organized a new activity along the Tordera route, similar to the one they organized in late 2018 between Massanes and Malgrat de Mar (see news here). On this occasion, they have organized the bike ride “Tordera Route: from the mountains to the sea”. If you are interested in participating in the event, you must contact the following email address: vadebicigrup@gmail.com.
Inauguration of the Girona sections of La Tourdera
Last Thursday, November 21st, the inauguration of the Girona sections of the “Tordera and Arbúcies stream Route” took place at the Molí de les Pipes in Arbúcies. The event was attended by mayors and technicians involved in the project, as well as representatives from the Provincial Council and the Montseny Natural Park. To finish, the attendees were able to exchange opinions while enjoying refreshments in the surroundings of the mill.
