In recent days, various maintenance operations have been carried out on the Tourdera signage in Arbúcies, and at the same time, the signage has been improved in different wooded sections where, as a result of the opening of logging tracks, the path could be confusing. The new signage, considering that the affected sections are within the Montseny Natural Park, has been carried out following the Park signage regulations.

This week, new Tourdera signage has been installed on the cycle path that connects the town of Breda with the center of Viabrea and its train station. This cycle path, which is part of the Tourdera section between Breda and Riells i Viabrea, is part of a safe walkway between these two municipalities, where you will now also find the Tourdera identification.
Consolidation works on the slopes of the Tordera in Tordera
The consolidation work on the slopes of the Tordera River in the town of Tordera, which were severely affected by Storm Gloria, continues to advance. Currently, the most complex work, which was the consolidation of the slope with stone riprap, is already finished, and in the coming weeks, the second phase of the project will begin to return the space to its initial state.
Riverbank restoration project at the old Malgrat shooting range
After the closure of the shooting range located on the Tordera riverbed in Malgrat was ordered in 2010, due to the serious impact it had on the preservation of the area’s natural and ecological values, the Malgrat de Mar city council began the recovery and restoration of the entire space a few weeks ago, next to which the Tourdera route passes.
Restoration of the Blanes sections
As you know, during the month of January, with the strong effects of Storm Gloria, the most significant incidents occurred throughout the lower Tordera area, especially in the municipalities of Blanes and Malgrat de Mar. In recent weeks, work has been finalizing in these municipalities, both on the Tordera river embankments and on the Pont d’en Pixota between Blanes and Malgrat.
Normalized passage through the Sot de la Geneta
Still due to the effects of Storm Gloria, until a few days ago it was still necessary to cycle with caution when passing through the Sot de la Geneta, on the section between Montsoriu Castle and Arbúcies for bicycles. Currently, the passage can be made with total normality after repairing the significant sinkhole that was on the track, which required getting off the bike.
Semi-annual monitoring meeting
On November 3rd, the biannual monitoring meeting for the “Ruta de la Tordera i riera d’Arbúcies” project took place via videoconference. These meetings are held periodically with the 18 participating municipalities to share all the actions taken in recent months and to address upcoming activities within the framework of the route.
Improvements to the route in the municipality of Arbúcies
For a few weeks now, the section of the Tourdera that follows the Arbúcies stream, in the municipality of Arbúcies, also known as the “Passeig per la riera” (Stream Walk), has been in perfect condition for hiking and cycling. After Storm Gloria, the section was severely damaged in some areas, which required actions to restore it, especially in the Can Cassó area.
New Tourdera section: cycle path between Breda and Viabrea already active
After months of construction, at the end of July, the cycle path connecting the urban center of Breda and the Riells i Viabrea-Breda railway station was officially inaugurated. This section is an integral part of the Tourdera route between Riells i Viabrea and Breda. This was the last section of the Tourdera under construction, beyond the works still to be carried out as a result of Storm Gloria.
Improvements to the route in the municipality of Sant Celoni
This week, improvement works have been carried out along the Tourdera route through the municipality of Sant Celoni, which had been significantly damaged after Storm Gloria. Specifically, a major sinkhole in the Llobateres wetland area and the crossing over the Fuirosos stream have been repaired. Remember that before doing any section of the route, you have the route map with the current conditions available.
