Today we bring you a new installment of the collection of articles related to the Tourdera connection itineraries. As we already explained to you, the Tordera Route and Arbúcies stream (Tourdera) is an itinerary that follows the course of the Tordera River and the Arbúcies stream in practically its entirety, but there are also some links to the route from towns near the river, as is the case of Massanes, Gualba, Riells i Viabrea, Breda or Vallgorguina. The crossing over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes has been reopened.

One of the pending works that remained to be resolved after the Gloria storm was the repair of the ford over the Santa Coloma stream at the height of the Maçanet – Massanes train station. This meant that the section of the route between the station and the town of Massanes was closed to pedestrians, as it was necessary to cross the stream directly over the riverbed. Since October 15, it has been possible to cross this point without problems, and therefore, the section is restored.

Arrangement at the ford over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes

For several months, the ford crossing the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes had disappeared due to Storm Gloria, which meant the section between the center of Massanes and the train station was completely cut off. Currently, a temporary repair has been carried out, allowing the passage of vehicles and people, but caution must be exercised because it is a transitory measure that would likely not withstand a major surge of the stream.

Maçanet-Massanes train station link

Did you know that the Maçanet-Massanes train station is connected to the Tordera and Arbúcies stream route? Well, yes, there is a section between Massanes and the train station, signposted like the rest of the route, that allows you to arrive by train and start the route first towards Massanes and then continue it to Hostalric, where it links up with the main itinerary of the route.
