Massanes City Council has completed the rehabilitation works on the footbridge over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes, which connects the train station with the C-35 road. The crossing at this point of the route suffered serious damage as a result of flooding, which meant the Tourdera passage was compromised.

La Tourdera connecting sections (part 3): the case of Massanes
Today we bring you a new installment of the collection of articles related to the Tourdera connection itineraries. As we already explained to you, the Tordera Route and Arbúcies stream (Tourdera) is an itinerary that follows the course of the Tordera River and the Arbúcies stream in practically its entirety, but there are also some links to the route from towns near the river, as is the case of Massanes, Gualba, Riells i Viabrea, Breda or Vallgorguina. Well, today we present the case of Massanes.
New scheduled rides by the Vadebici Group along the Tourdera route
The Grup Vadebici, an entity that promotes Slow-Biking, i.e., the practice of cycling without rush and enjoying the landscape, has planned several outings along the Tordera route for the beginning of 2022, as part of the outings it organizes periodically along bike lanes, greenways, rural roads, etc.
The crossing over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes has been reopened.
One of the pending works that remained to be resolved after the Gloria storm was the repair of the ford over the Santa Coloma stream at the height of the Maçanet – Massanes train station. This meant that the section of the route between the station and the town of Massanes was closed to pedestrians, as it was necessary to cross the stream directly over the riverbed. Since October 15, it has been possible to cross this point without problems, and therefore, the section is restored.
Repair of the ford over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes
For several months, the ford crossing the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes had been gone due to Storm Gloria, meaning the section between the center of Massanes and the train station was completely cut off. Although a provisional action was carried out a few months ago to allow passage, a new flood washed the path away again. Since last week, circulation over the stream has been provisionally restored, pending the execution of the final project, which is scheduled for after the summer.
Arrangement at the ford over the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes
For several months, the ford crossing the Santa Coloma stream in Massanes had disappeared due to Storm Gloria, which meant the section between the center of Massanes and the train station was completely cut off. Currently, a temporary repair has been carried out, allowing the passage of vehicles and people, but caution must be exercised because it is a transitory measure that would likely not withstand a major surge of the stream.
Maçanet-Massanes train station link
Did you know that the Maçanet-Massanes train station is connected to the Tordera and Arbúcies stream route? Massanes – Fogars de la Selva section
We continue to present the recently activated sections of the Tourdera, this time between the church of Sant Cebrià de Fogars (in Fogars de la Selva) and the village of Massanes. On this section, approximately halfway through, you will pass very close to the town of Hostalric, where you can take the opportunity to make a short stop by deviating slightly from the path.
