More information about this section…
The Tourdera route section between Santa Maria de Palautordera and Vallgorguina is shared throughout its entire length by both hikers and cyclists. It is a 12.0-kilometre section, with a cumulative ascent of 188 metres and an overall moderate level of difficulty. The route begins on the Carretera Nova de Sant Esteve, where the route information panel is located. From there, following the first route signpost next to the panel, you will head towards the Serra neighbourhood, from where there is the option of reaching the train station. Continuing along the route, you will walk down Avinguda de la Serra, which first becomes a track and then quickly turns into a path leading to a metal footbridge over the Tordera, which you will need to cross.
Continuing along the itinerary, you will follow a track that leads to an underpass beneath the high-speed railway (TGV) tracks. After a short stretch on asphalt to the Santa Maria wastewater treatment plant, you will continue along another track. Throughout the route, you will always find wayfinding signs, either in the form of signposts or markers displaying the route logo. This track, which you will follow for around 1,400 metres through farmland, leads to the Riu-sec, which you will cross via a wooden footbridge after a gentle descent. From the footbridge, you will continue parallel to the Riu-sec until reaching the Parc dels Enamorats, where you will find a fountain and a rest area.
Resuming your journey, you will continue for approximately 750 metres along the edge of the urban area, passing the Sot de les Granotes sports hall and continuing to an underpass beneath the railway tracks. From there, the route follows a track leading to the Pont Trencat. The route crosses the Pont Trencat, a Gothic-style bridge that once formed part of the famous Via Augusta and which had to be extensively restored following the damage it suffered during the Peninsular War. After crossing the bridge, you will pass through the Pont Trencat area and head towards the BV-5112 road. At this point, you should pay close attention when crossing the Vallgorguina stream, as you will find a signpost indicating the direction towards Vallgorguina and not the continuation of the main Tordera route.
Following the direction towards Vallgorguina, you will pass several industrial buildings and then head towards the C-61 road, along which you will walk for approximately 600 metres before turning towards the El Molinot industrial estate. Once there, you will soon join the Vallgorguina Greenway, which you will follow for much of the route, always running parallel to the Vallgorguina stream. You will only leave it halfway along the route, as the path enters the Parc Natural del Montnegre-Corredor, climbing steadily almost to the Pedra Gentil dolmen, which is well worth a visit. You will then begin a descent until rejoining the Greenway, which will take you directly into the village of Vallgorguina, where you will find shops, bars, restaurants and even the Vallgorguina Forest and Farming Museum.
