As is well known, Storm Gloria strongly affected the entire Tordera river basin. But not only in a negative way (even today, works are being carried out to repair the damage), it also provided a great benefit to the river, such as the creation of the large coastal lagoon between Blanes and Malgrat de Mar, which was able to gain meters from the sea after many years. Thanks to this fact, the management of the space has changed, with access restrictions, a ban on swimming, and the creation of viewpoints to observe birds without interfering with their natural dynamics, among others.

The Llobateres wetland area
The Les Llobateres wetland area is an enclave located in the municipality of Sant Celoni, also very close to the municipalities of Riells i Viabrea, Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, Hostalric, and Fogars de la Selva. The route of the Tourdera passes precisely through this space which, as you will see, comes from an old human activity that was converted into a space for the flora and fauna of humid environments.
Riverbank restoration project at the old Malgrat shooting range
After the closure of the shooting range located on the Tordera riverbed in Malgrat was ordered in 2010, due to the serious impact it had on the preservation of the area’s natural and ecological values, the Malgrat de Mar city council began the recovery and restoration of the entire space a few weeks ago, next to which the Tourdera route passes.
Performances of the ACA in Tordera
Last January, the Generalitat de Catalunya reported on the various actions carried out by the Agència Catalana de l’Aigua (ACA) on the banks of the Tordera in the municipalities of Sant Celoni and Gualba, along the route of the Tordera Route through these municipalities.
