As you know, one of the great attractions of the Tourdera is the Montseny Biosphere Reserve, the massif where the Tordera river and the Arbúcies stream are born, which give our route its name. This space, of great relevance and importance for the biodiversity it hosts (check here the post we prepared for you), must be preserved and we must make its enjoyment compatible with its conservation. Therefore, following the recommendations of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Montseny, we provide you with some tips to enjoy it in a sustainable way.

Modification of the route in the municipality of Fogars de Montclús
At the beginning of August, a small modification was made to the Tourdera route in the municipality of Fogars de Montclús. Specifically, the route has been simplified at a point between Mosqueroles and the Costa del Montseny, where there was a variant for hikers and one for bicycles, which have now been combined into a single path.
La desembocadura de la Tordera
The mouth of the Tordera River is one of the gems of the Tourdera territory which, fortunately, has managed to improve its status in recent years following Storm Gloria and the restriction of access to a large part of its extent. We have prepared a short article with information about this very interesting natural area, which we must all help to preserve.
Signage improvements in the municipality of Sant Celoni
During the month of June, the Sant Celoni City Council carried out an improvement project for the urban directional signs used for route following. Specifically, these were directional signs in the urban environment that were experiencing problems with their vinyl overlays.
Modification of the route in La Batllòria
In recent weeks, a small modification has been made to the Tourdera route in La Batllòria, within the municipality of Sant Celoni. Specifically, this change has been made to prevent bicycles from passing through areas where it is currently not permitted and, at the same time, to solve directional issues.
New signage in Blanes
As you know, Storm Gloria caused a lot of trouble and damage to the Tourdera, but it has also brought, in the long run, some benefits, such as the greater status of preservation of the Tordera mouth, or the reconstruction of the Tordera bridge between Malgrat de Mar and Blanes, much larger and with a segregated bike lane. This month, new signage has been installed at this point, improving connectivity between these two towns.
Semi-annual review of the Tourdera
This month of June, we have started the first annual review of the Tourdera to verify the state of the route and detect any issues with the itinerary and signage. As you know, at Tourdera we perform two complete reviews of the entire route annually and, of all the issues detected, we send everything we find to the maintenance managers of each municipality.
Montseny, a natural space with high biodiversity
The Montseny is a protected natural space that represents an important source of biodiversity for our country. In this massif, you will find everything represented from Mediterranean lowland ecosystems to subalpine environments of the highest peaks, passing through humid mid-mountain forests. And if you do the Tourdera in its sections through the Montseny, you will easily see it, passing from Mediterranean holm oak forests on the sunny slopes to beech forests in the cooler and wetter areas.
Benefits of hiking and cycling for mental health
Hiking and cycling are very beneficial for our health, as we already explained in this previous article. However, today we want to delve a little deeper into the aspect of mental health benefits, as enjoying walking or cycling in nature not only strengthens our body but also has positive effects on our mind.
New location of the Tourdera information panel at the Blanes river mouth.
This week, the route information panel, which was located at the river mouth, has been moved. Specifically, the panel was in its old location, currently inaccessible to the public, as the area is closed to pedestrians as a measure to preserve the environment. The panel has now been relocated to the viewpoint area, along with other interpretive elements.
